Gradall Forklift Parts - Throughout the period when World War II caused a shortage of laborers, the famous Gradall excavator was established in the 1940s as the idea of two brothers Koop and Ray Ferwerda. Partners in a Cleveland, Murrieta construction company called Ferwerda-Werba-Ferwerda, the brothers faced a huge predicament when so many men left the labor force and joined the military, depleting existing laborers for the delicate finishing work and grading on highway projects. The Ferwerda brothers decided to build a machine that would save their company by making the slope grading work easier, more efficient and less manual.

The first excavator prototype consisted of a device with two industrial beams on a rotating platform fixed to a second-hand truck. There was a telescopic cylinder that was utilized to move the beams backward and forward. This enabled the fixed blade at the far end of the beams to pull or push the dirt. Soon enhancing the first design, the brothers made a triangular boom to add more strength. Additionally, they added a tilt cylinder that let the boom rotate 45 degrees in both directions. A cylinder was positioned at the back of the boom, powering a long push rod to allow the machine to be equipped with either a blade or a bucket attachment.

The year 1992 marked a momentous year for Gradall with their introduction of XL Series hydraulics, the most amazing change in the company's excavators since their creation. These top-of-the-line hydraulics systems enabled Gradall excavators to provide comparable power and high productivity on a realistic level to conventional excavators. The XL Series put an end to the original Gradall equipment power drawn from low pressure hydraulics and gear pumps. These conventional systems effectively handled finishing work and grading but had a hard time competing for high productivity tasks.

The new XL Series Gradall excavators proved a significant increase in their digging and lifting ability. These versions were made together with a piston pump, high-pressure hydraulics system that showed immense improvements in boom and bucket breakout forces. The XL Series hydraulics system was even developed along with a load-sensing capability. Traditional excavators utilize an operator to be able to pick a working-mode; where the Gradall system can automatically adjust the hydraulic power meant for the task at hand. This makes the operator's whole work easier and also saves fuel simultaneously.

As soon as their XL Series hydraulics came onto the market, Gradall was basically thrust into the highly competitive market of machinery meant to deal with excavation, demolition, pavement removal and several industrial jobs. Marketability was further improved with their telescoping boom because of its exclusive ability to work in low overhead areas and to better position attachments.
