To add 4,000 square feet to the building
Diasol, a privately held company based in San Fernando, Calif., announced this week that it has acquired a 46,000-square-foot building in the Watertown Industrial Park and will likely begin operations there in the next 90-120 days. The company will initially employ about 25 workers.
According to Diasol President Monica Abeles, the building in Watertown will require some reconstruction before her company can begin operations there. She said that among other changes, plans are to add 4,000 square feet to the building, which will include a section designated for office space. She said the building, originally more of a warehouse-like design, did not have any office space.
The Watertown facility will become Diasol’s fourth manufacturing location. The company currently maintains operations in Allentown, Pa., Austin, Texas; Phoenix, Ariz.; Stockton, Calif.; and at its home office.
Diasol offers a range of medical supplies, specializing in products used in treating dialysis, including acid concentrate, sodium bicarbonate, dialysis chairs, mixers and bloodlines.
“Having a local manufacturer will benefit dialysis providers,” Abeles said.
She said the closeness in proximity to clients would reduce shipping time, response time in an emergency and ultimately product costs.
Abeles said employment opportunities with the company for the Watertown site would be posted at diasol.com.
